Welcome to Sri Sri Radha Vrindabanbehari
Govardhan Ecovillage is a project of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. It is a place of pilgrimage known as a Dhama – a holy abode of Lord Krishna. We are committed to practicing and sharing a spiritually oriented lifestyle based on the devotional principles of Bhakti coming in the lineage of the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition.
The manifestation of this project is due to the fervent desire of Radhanatha Swami in dedication to his beloved Guru, His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada – “To erect for the members and society at large, a holy place of transcendental pastimes, dedicated to the personality of Krishna.”
VISIT ISKCON GEV
Serene and untouched by the modern World – this beautiful jungle ashram is set over 85 acres, just a 2-hours’ drive from Mumbai, India – in the foothills of the Sahyadri mountains. The ashram was built with love following the vision Radhanath Swami had of creating simple living and high thinking We are humbled to be recognised by UNWTO with an award for sustainable tourism.
A Day Visit at Govardhan Ecovillage provides you with the opportunity to explore the unexplored serenity of nature along with some exclusive species of birds chirping through the dense forest that makes you wonder the ecstasy showered by Mother Earth. At the end of this Day Visit, you are certain to have some great memories that you’d carry for long, wondering what you have been missing for all these years
Vrindavan Forest
The twelve major forests serve as the backdrop for the divine, transcendental pastimes of Radha and Krishna. Five forests are located on the eastern side of the Yamuna River, where Lord Balaram is the central figure in the pastimes. On the western side of the Yamuna river, Srimati Radharani and Sri Krishna preside over the seven forests.
Goshala
The Goshala at Govardhan Ecovillage was started in 2003. Beginning with only 9 cows & bulls, the number today has increased to 104 and is expected to reach 150 in next few years.
One of the unique features at the Govardhan Ecovillage Goshala is the personal attention and care given, with separate special zones allocated for Bulls, Cows, Calves and milking Cows. Pregnant Cows are offered special diet and care to ensure proper health of the Cow and the calf. Old cows and bulls are given special care. Cows at Govardhan Ecovillage are treated as one of the family members and all due care is given to them. The health status of each and every cow is noted on a daily basis and is logged for long term monitoring.
Annakshetra
Annakshetra is an initiative by Govardhan Ecovillage to feed whoever comes to it. The project was inaugurated at the beautiful Govardhan Ecovillage in Wada on 18 December 2018. At Govardhan Annakshetra, we feed a full meal of Krishna Prasadam daily.
Govardhan Annakshetra, a National Geographic Featured Mega Kitchen, under ISKCON’s Food Distribution wing has been striving for a #HungerFreePalghar. Now, Govardhan Annakshetra 2.0 Feed for Social Impact Program works on the issue of Huge Student Drop-Outs in Grades due to improper mid-day meal programs in Palghar.
